let's just party

Saturday, March 28, 2015

Hello!! I am currently coughing up a lung from the last concert I went to (which I am going to talk about) and now I'm going to Halsey today so I'll probably won't have a voice tomorrow (I'll blog about that tomorrow ha ha ha).

I saw some friends play a show on Thursday night, which was filled with laughs and loads of fun. After the show we went out to eat with one of the bands, because they're our new friends!

I wore an over sized T-shirt from Men's Forever21, tights from Walgreens, and my Mizuno shoes (because my feet hurt).

To fix this average blog post go listen to Get At Me!!!!

love you all! I'm gonna go cough up a lung and take a shower.

the health edition

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Hey you! Are you ready to feel super healthy? Are you ready to strengthen your immune system? Are you ready to sweat your booty off? Are you ready to get loads of natural vitamins?

Well, I hope you said yes to at least one of these questions because I am going to share with you the following: great workout apps to get you motivated, my go-to workout clothing for all occasions, the healthy things I try to keep around, and some very helpful tips.

The only reason I am doing this is because I felt really motivated today and I am starting to run again and I am super excited to share my journey with you all!

To start out, lets talk about the apps I use when working out! Also, they're all free!

  • Charity Miles: This app is my main motivation for running because it helps me see that I can help tons of people by working out. Charity Miles supports a bunch of charities including, Stand Up To Cancer, WWF, Girl Up, Nothing But Nets, and many more. If you don't like to run or you simply cannot run, they also have biking and walking options.
  • Stop Breathe & Think: Stop Breathe & Think is great for relaxing after a workout or before bed. This app leads you through a meditation that helps you recognize certain things based on how you feel that specific day.
  • Grokker: Grokker is an app with loads of different workout videos that are completely free! (That's really all)

Next, I am going to share my go-to workout clothing.

This outfit is my typical training outfit. I would wear this if I were doing any sort of strength training, or if I were taking a class such as cycling or Zumba. I got this sports bra from Forever21, the shorts are from Kohl's in the juniors workout section, and my shoes are Mizuno, which I got fitted for at a local running store.

This is my yoga outfit. It consists of Fila cropped yoga pants and a yoga shirt from Forever21.
This is my very favorite outfit, my running outfit. This is my typical running outfit for a warm/hot spring or summer day. I don't typically run outside in the winter because it's wicked cold and super snowy. This outfit consists of a sports bra from Nike, Fila wicking top and Fila running shorts, Balega running socks, a New Balance visor, and Mizuno running shoes.

Moving on, now we will get into the healthy things I love to have with me. I absolutely love Yogi teas, right now I am detoxing with their Detox tea. This detox tea is super light on your body and contains no laxatives, so you can drink it on the go. I also love to always have chia seeds and hemp seeds to put on salads or eat with some peanut butter. One other thing I must have at all times is, garbanzo beans, or chickpeas. I adore roasted chickpeas and also hummus. I also make sure I have a can of chickpeas around or some dry ones to soak and use.

At this point you're probably wondering why I am making this post; it is a lot different than my other posts. I have found myself in a rut, I fall ill a lot and have very weak back and shoulder muscles. I have realized that working out and eating clean could help with a lot of health issues, so I have began to try to be healthy again. To do so, I have started to cleanse my body for the next two weeks with Fit Personality's 14 Day Clean Eating Challenge. Unfortunately due to the fact that I may have low iron, I have revised Katy's version and I am not cutting out red meat from my diet, but I will be eating leaner cuts. Also, to start my running journey, I have pledged to do a 5K Running Challenge that I found on Popsugar Fitness. I am hoping to run a 5K sometime this summer!

I really hope that I have inspired you to deal with your health, because it is not going to stop being a problem unless you do something about it. Also, don't forget to stay super positive when working out; a negative mind could cause you stress or unwanted injuries.

I love every one of you and I hope to see you back here on Thursday!

sunday funday

Sunday, March 22, 2015

Hi! Okay my title is so lame, I apologize for being so cliche. I promise I am usually not cliche, what have I turned into? Anyways, this weekend has been nothing but eventful and next weekend will be even more eventful.

This weekend, I had my loud and crazy Sicilian family over for a pasta sauce making party. Being Sicilian is kind of weird because we don't like when people refer to us as "Italians", but when were told that we aren't Italian we get offended. Also Sicilian do not eat pasta all the time, so it was actually rare that we had pasta last night. Although it was a rare occasion, I still had loads of fun with my family. My friend also came over last night and we got froyo at 9 pm, typical.

Next weekend is going to be so much more exciting because I AM SEEING HALSEY!!!! I am so unbelievably excited you don't even know. My outfit is actually going to be so adorable, and I am going to have cute little gems on me and it is all going to be so wonderful. The concert is 6 days away and I've already got mini Polaroid, regular Polaroid, and disposable camera all ready for the show! I cannot wait, feeling excited is an understatement.

I am wearing joggers from Forever21, an embroidered shirt from my little shop, Louring Calm and a wishbone tattoo from Bambi&Fawn.

I'll try to be back on Tuesday, hopefully it will be warm enough to wear something other than long sleeves and jeans!

glorious spring

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

Hello!! It's only Wednesday? This week is taking forever! I mean I enjoy Wednesdays because I get to read with an elementary student. Today, she told me that she loves Wednesdays because she gets to see me; my heart literally melted. I also cut my hair yesterday, a little bit above my shoulders and I absolutely love it! I've been wanting to cut my hair short again, the last time it was short was 7th grade which was 4ish years ago, also I've been needing a change. If you are thinking about changing up your hair, you should totally do it! Change is good, and you will feel so confident when you do what you want.

Oh man, I worked on my How To paper for my Composition class outside today and it was very unsuccessful. I kept getting distracted by nature and the wind.

Today I wore a long sleeve top from Brandy Melville, Silver Joga jeans, a tan peacoat from L.L. Bean and green Toms Bootas.

longboarding on a cloud

Monday, March 16, 2015

Hi! It's finally warm (warm as in 65 degrees). Once I got home from school, I dragged out my longboard and my camera and hit the road. Once on my street, I turned up my music and just went for a little ride.

Oh yeah forgot to mention, even though it is 65 degrees out, there is still snow on the ground and it is super duper windy. Gotta love Michigan!

Today I wore a plain white tee from Forever21, grey and black joggers from Forever21, a thrifted Levi's jean jacket, and white Converse.

I'm very tired and my throat is scratchy, so I'm going to go make some tea and watch some Friends.
Have a super fantastic Monday!

local music

Saturday, March 14, 2015

Hello to all of you whether you are from the United States, or the United Kingdom (You guys are seriously so cool, how did you even find my blog?), Sweden (You rock too!), France (Same goes for you) and Ireland (I love you too)!! I'm currently writing this at 10:30 in the morning, and I am quite tired. I honestly don't even know why I am awake, but I can't fall back asleep so here I am.

Last night I went to a EP release concert for a band I hold near to my heart, I started listening to them almost 3 years ago and now we are friends so that is super awesome!

Okay so, Shapes and Colors is the band I saw last night for their EP release. They are such down to earth guys, some of the nicest people I have ever met! They have such amazing attitudes and personalities; they also have super fantastic musical abilities.

They actually just left for their first tour! They put on such an awesome show, wherever they go! If they are coming to your state you should surely go and see one of their shows (I'll put the information below). They're also going on tour with a GetAtMe, who are a band from St. Louis, Missouri. They seem super nice and friendly; I only met them once. I will be sure to leave all of these two bands information below, in case you want to check them out (you should want to check them out!)

Shapes & Colors

GetAtMe

So that is it for today! I will be sure to post something tomorrow! I love all of you for viewing my blog, and letting me be a dreamer! Keep being cool and be sure to talk to me on some sort of social media. (links are all by my profile picture)

Have a great day and listening to some good music!

like a rolling stone

Wednesday, March 11, 2015

Hey! How is everyone? I hope you're all fantastic! I'm doing good, I'm so happy that it's getting warmer and that the snow is melting. I'm also happy because I got my hair cut a tad bit today, it was getting shaggy. I also didn't have much homework today, so I got to enjoy the lovely weather. And then it got darker outside and I started to get tired and made myself some sleepy time tea. :)

I just love Himalayan sea salt, it;s great for purifying the air, using in the bath, or even using in your food. I also love my Wonder Woman mug that I got from Francesca's. I adore the novel I just added to my collection; Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov, such a fabulous book.

Now I think I am going to finish my sleepytime tea and go to bed at 8:30 pm because I am wicked sleepy. So good night or good morning, depending on when you read this.

xoxo, Aubrey

marvelous monday

Monday, March 9, 2015

Ciao! Today was such a nice day, except for the fact that there is still some snow on the ground. I decided to enjoy the weather with my dog and do a little bit of blogging outside. The sun was being a pain, moving every few seconds, but I still enjoyed trying to take photos outside. I hope you all enjoy the beautiful weather and do some relaxing because spring is coming!

My dog looks like a stuffed animal in the photo, anyways his name is Boo and he is a Shih-tzu. Boo just got groomed so he looks extra cute and smells super clean, in a few weeks he will be scruffy and dirty again. He also kind of hates everyone except for my mom, but he also wants to be everyone's friend. He doesn't make much sense, but I love him anyways.

Today I am wearing boyfriend jeans from Pacsun, a green cardigan from Forever21, a black collared shirt from Forever21, and green Toms booties. (None of these are sold still, but I linked a similar piece of clothing)

Have a fantastic rest of the day! Love you all so much! I can't wait to see where this blog takes me!

street art

Sunday, March 8, 2015

Hello beautiful humans, I hope all is well on this glorious day! Yesterday was the first day this year that it has been sunny enough that 30 degree weather doesn't feel like 30 degree weather. Instead of sitting inside all day yesterday, I went to another city's downtown and did some exploring, shopping, and ate some delicious food.

I absolutely love street art, even if it's just people writing on a wall with a sharpie. I love seeing cute street art, such as the "Marry Me?" one I took a photo of or the quote about time, featured above. Street art is a beautiful way of expression.

I wore a t-shirt dress that is really just an extra large t-shirt from the Forever21 Men's section, I also have on a coat I bought from Lands End(They don't sell it anymore) and a plaid scarf that I got from Delia's before they closed.

My friend, Maddie is wearing a plaid skirt from American Apparel with black tights, a plain black shirt, a vintage denim jacket, and a burgundy hat from Forever21.

My friend, Trisha is wearing a red and black flannel from Target, with black tights, and a black coat.

I had such a good times with my friends and I encourage you to hang out with your friends and just enjoy each other's company.

Hope the rest of your week is amazing!

xoxo, Aubrey

a beautiful thursday afternoon

Thursday, March 5, 2015

Hi! So I was actually just about to do my homework, but I decided to post this instead. Today was pretty mellow, I really enjoy my composition class because it's always relaxing to write about things that I actually enjoy writing about. Also I am thinking about stitching lines from some of my poems on t-shirts, kind of like the ones I have been selling on my website. Also more exciting news, I am going to apply to write for a tiny online magazine very soon! And I have a very special surprise for my recipe this week, you will not want to miss it! Anyways lets get to the photos!

I only have three photos for you today because I am a slacker and I did not really feel like messing with my lighting when the sun wasn't where I needed it to be.

Today I am wearing a mustard yellow cropped sweater from Forever21, black jeans from Levi's and a flannel my brother bought at Kohl's.

Okay guys I should probably go do my homework and study for my physics test, I don't want to fail. I might be busy tomorrow, I don't quite know yet, but I will try to post something!

xoxo, Aubrey

casual grazing

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Hello beauties! I was going to post this yesterday, but I watched Friends from 3-7 and then fell asleep at 8. I took the ACT today and kind of want to go to bed and it's still pretty early. I have more testing tomorrow so I think I am going to take a nap, but before I do that I am proud to introduce you to my new favorite thing, Graze Snack Box.

Oh man, I found this new product thanks to my friend Trisha; it is called a Graze Box. Graze is this super awesome company that sends you 4 healthy snacks, once a month for $6.99. It arrives in this thin card board box, that I find quite earthy.

Once you open the box, a giant picture of raspberries is revealed along with the most important part, your delicious snacks!

This time around my box came with El Picante, which is a spicy mix, spicy foods are great for your metabolism so this is a great midday snack. It also came with Lemon Drizzle Flapjack, which are tiny bars made of oats and other grains with lemon custard drizzled over them. I also got Campfire S'mores, which I shared with my mom before I did some homework and before she had to work. Last but not least, I got Chocolate Pecan Pie, which I had for my dessert and even shared a little with my dad who loved it. The Graze box has been a big hit for my family and myself. If you would like to try a graze box for free you can use this promo code PWR74JTRB.

Yay! I hope you all try a Graze Box and enjoy it, if not I hope you enjoy something else!

salad in a jar

Sunday, March 1, 2015

Happy Sunday and Happy March!! Guess what I have for you today? A recipe DIY thingie! I am very excited to share this with you all, because it has made it a lot easier for me to get healthy. Today I am going to share with you, how to make salads in a jar for the weeks ahead!

So this week I am only making three salads because I only have three full days of school, but I would typically make five of them.

After I get together all the stuff I can find in my fridge, I lay it out on the counter and prepare to make something amazing!

Next I make sure all the jars and lids I need are clean, if they aren't I stick them in the dishwasher when I run it.

I put the dressing or oil in the bottom first, for these three, I used the dressing I made last Saturday for one and hemp oil for the other two.

Next, you either put in beans or hearty vegetables, you do not want to put any vegetables in that will rot or wilt. I put in baby bell peppers.

After that I pack in soft vegetables in my case, I used cucumbers and red onion.
Next, I pack half the jar with lettuce, I used mixed greens for two of them and then I ran out so I used arugula. Last but not least, I put a tablespoon of chia seeds on top.
Chia seeds are this ancient superfood that I put in everything, on salads, in water, in oatmeal, I have even baked them into muffins. I love chia seeds!

Once you have your jars all packed, store them in your fridge for up to five days!

Recipe for 1 jar
  • About 2 tablespoons of hemp oil, enough to cover the bottom of the jar (Find at Whole Foods or your local health store)
  • 2 baby bell peppers (I buy mine at Meijer's, but I've also seen them at Kroger and Target)
  • 1/4 Cucumber
  • Enough lettuce to fill half the jar (Arugula, Romaine, Spring Mix, Spinach, etc.)
  • 1 Tablespoon of chia seeds (Find at your local health store. Trader Joe's also has them)

If you make these let me know on Instagram or Twitter
I hope you all have a fantastic week and to all my friends reading this, Good Luck on the ACT!!
I will try my hardest to post this week, I might be wiped out from testing for two days, but we will see!

xoxo, Aubrey
